Course Objective

The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with political ideologies, structures, and organizations that promote affirmative nonkilling peace in society. The course focuses on understanding the nature of political science and its relevance to nonkilling and peace, encouraging a scientific temperament to evaluate theories and concepts critically. Students will explore sustainable political ideologies and central concepts of nonkilling theory to foster peace.

Unit Highlights

This course is divided into four comprehensive units:

  • Unit I: Explores the definition, nature, and scope of political science.
  • Unit II: Focuses on major political theories, including Social Contract Theory, Utilitarianism, Marxism, and Transcendentalism.
  • Unit III: Discusses significant socio-political leaders such as Mao Tse Tung, Vladimir Lenin, Martin Luther King Jr., and Nelson Mandela.
  • Unit IV: Examine nonkilling parameters like homicide, capital punishment, battle-related deaths, and suicide.
